I am new to reports. I am trying to create a report that groups items by their item no. I first run a query that searches items by BETWEEN [BEG NO] AND [END NO]. Then I want to group by item numbers with their listed descriptions. Here is an example: I would query for a beginning item number that is "1765T100A" and an ending number that is "1765T301". 1765T will always hold that same basic format but the ending values are arranged as 100A, 100B, 100C, 200, 201, 201A, 201B, 300, 300A, 301, etc.. I can't figure out how to group 1765T100A, 1765T100B, 1765T100C on new pages. I hope that someone will be able to make some sense out of this jibberish. Thanks in advance for all the help.

In your report, you will need a group header for the Item Number. On the menu bar go to View....Sorting and Grouping. Under the Field/Expression section select ItemNo. from the list. Then under Group Properties set the Header property to Yes. Put your ItemNo. textbox in this header. Then under the Header properties you will see Force New Page. Set that to Before Section.

That should put each ItemNo. on a seperate page.

jstew,
If you want to keep all the 1765's together, you can do that with "Group Interval" set to 4 (and set the "Group On" to "Prefix Characters"). As Paul explained, you can set the "Force New Page" to eject anytime you want, based on the number of characters (from the left) inside the value.

That's for the insight. I appreciate your help.
