Reporting from a MS SQL Database

Have a report that is grouping by the customer number so by default it is sorting by customer number.

I have been asked if it would be possible to sort by the total sales dollars. The total sales dollars is a Running Total field.

Did not see an option to sort by the running total, is that possible?

Been my experience with other reports that if you have a grouping that changing the sort order to a field other than the group field is not possible. Is this correct or have I missed something?

You are basically correct on both counts. Grouping supersedes any sorting. Also in the Report Processing Model. Sorting comes before running totals. That does not mean you couldn't create a formula to do your 'running total' to get around that a little bit.

Here is a link that explains a little bit about the Report Processing Model.
