I'm trying to create a grouped report in MS Access 2002 and not having a lot of luck.

What I have is a query containing company, contactname, and contactphone fields sorted ascending on all 3 fields in the order given. The report, when created, shows a detail section of

Code:
company1 contactname contactphone
             contactname contactphone
company2 contactname contactphone
company3 contactname contactphone
             contactname contactphone
             contactname contactphone
<etc.>

What I need to have is for the report to do a page break on company and show that value in the page header rather than in the detail section.

This is probably embarassingly simple but it's been quite a while since I worked with Access and it's just not coming back - of course I'm under a tight time constraint to make this happen for a customer ...

Comments/suggestions/hints greatly accepted and much appreciated.

Best,

Tom

Go into sorting and grouping for the report (Right click the little black square where the rulers at the top and left of the report come together).

Add a company header and footer. Put what you want at the top of each page in the company header (technically the page header should work too but I think it is cleaner the other way).

Get the properties of the Company Footer (right click the bar above the section) and set the Force New Page property to after section.

That's it you should be done.

Faint bells are (quietly) sounding in my head - either a hearing problem or I'm actually recalling things from my past Access work :)

Thanks - will get that done and the trouble ticket off my plate today!

Best,

Tom
