Group Totals in Report Footer

Started this in another post but figured it'd be best to start a new thread....I need to take all the group names and the running totals for each group and put them in a formatted formula field in the report footer. Any ideas?

So, if I understand you correctly, you need a "summary" in the report footer that shows the values for all of the groups in the report. If that's correct, you'll need to use a subreport to do this. The subreport will be essentially the same as your main report, but just show the group totals instead of all of the details of the main report. If you have parameters in your main report, you'll want to recreate them in the subreport and then, in the subreport links, link from the param in the main report to the corresponding param in the subreport.

Dell, I just used the tedious method of creating a running total for each tech and performing the calculation for each tech in the formula field in the report footer.

The downside of using RTs is that if your data changes and a new group member is added you have to update your report. Whereas Dells SR solution will automatically update.

Great point, Ian. I was developing a "quick" report, but I'll go back and explore the SR option. What's the adage about never having time to do it right the first time, but always time to do it over? Thanks again to both of you!!

You could insert a crosstab in the report footer, using the group field as the row field.
