I hope someone can help.

I have a customer with sites A,B and C.

Until now all sites used a common proxy held at the main office. That was set via GP

Now site B is having its own local internet access so needs to change the proxy server to no proxy.

As the proxy server is a user setting, and users work in mutiple sites, sometimes in site A and sometimes in site B.

This means that when the user logs on in site A they have no proxy server and hence no internet access. But when they move back to site B all is OK.

What do we need to set so users can log on from any site and GP will check the OU they are in and apply the proxy accordlingly.

I think loop back processing may be the answer, but im sure someone has done this before and has the solution.

TIA

Paul

If aint broken, dont try n fix it!!!!!

I would just create different OU's for the different locations. Then in the group policy, only apply the proxy settings for the OU's that need it.
Under the Computer portion of the group policy there is the option to make the internet settings computer wide and not per user. Enable that and you should be fine.

You can also go to the Sites and Services MMC and create several sites, one for each location. At the bottom of the screen, make a subnet and bind each subnet to the site.

When a user is in a specific subnet, they'll be in a particular 'site'.

THEN create a policy that binds to that site and from then on the users computers will automatically adjust when they move between locations.

Thanks guys,

Both great bits of advice.

Much Appreciated.
