Group Policy - software removal problem after deleted gp

Can anyone help. One of my colleagues deployed an app through group policy. He set it to remove application when computer falls out os scope of management. The app installed fine at first.

But a few days later, he deleted the group policy because he no longer needed it, and pc's in the ou it applied to have been moved to other ou's

The result is when you log on, it tries every time to uninstall the old application, but because it can't find the group policy that installed it, it fails. Anyone any ideas.
