Group policy settings not being applied

I have one particular PC on the network that has suddenly stopped applying group policy settings. Specifically, I set the desktop wallpaper, and prevent changes to it, via GP and up to now there have been no problems. However, yesterday, this PC stopped displaying the wallpaper and allows the user to change it. Doing a gpresult indicates that the group policy object is being applied, but it clearly isn't.

The PC is running XP SP2.

Anyone got any ideas?

Regards,
Phil.

The March issue of Windows IT pro has an excellent article describing issues with GPOs not running specifically for WinXP SP2 machines. You may want to take a look ( to see if it helps.
