I have an OU set up in AD and I have a group policy object applied to that OU which prevents all users within that OU from accessing the Internet.

However, I had a user who switched departments and so to give her internet access, I moved her user account out of that OU and into another one where the policy isn't applied.

However, the policy is still being applied to her account and she cannot access the internet. How do I get around this?

Have the user rebooted since you moved the account from the OU? Try running GPUPDATE /force in the command prompt to refresh her policies.

If this fails you could look at using the GPRESULT command line tool to verify which GPO's are being applied to the user. You can also look at Resultant Set of Policy in the Group Policy Management Console.

Hi Steve,

Tried the gupdate /force - but that made no difference.

Tried using the GPRESULT tool to print out the GOP information for the user in question but I get a message telling me that there is no RSOP data for that user.

Any other suggestions?

Didn't get it sorted in the end - ended up deleting and readding the user account

Hmmmm.... first thing that comes to mind is the need to reset that setting via another GPO that "un-does" what the first one sets.
