Hi Everyone,

I'm having a few problems with a fresh build of windows server 2003, I am trying to create roaming profiles for all the users on my network, this part of the process has gone well, the profiles are roaming without a problem.

I then created folder redirections in the group policy editor which work with the Administrator account when I logon to the server locally, but, when I logon to a client pc, the redirection dosnt work, and I belive this is down to the group policy to making it to the machine.

Can anyone give me any giudence on this matter?

Best Regards,

James

Hi gavm99,

Thank you for replying to my post!

Yes the DNS is pointing to the server as the client PC has logged onto the domain ok, and users log on and off fine, and their profiles roam, the problem I am getting is the group policy isn't applying to any of the client pc's..

Best regards,

James

Are you sure that group policy is not making it to the PCs?

Are any other policy settings getting applied (screensaver, etc)?

From a command prompt, run gpresult on a problem PC, as a user experiencing the problem.. This will show you which GPOs are being applied to the machine. If you are not familiar with the command, it might be easier if you post your results here (but you may want to edit out any domain information about your company first).

Another useful tool you can run from a command prompt on a PC is rsop.msc. This will display a Resultant Set of Policy (assuming the user has rights to run it). This is a screen similar to the Group Policy editor you are probably accustomed to, but it only shows settings that have been applied, and also which GPO applied it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Andrew
