Group Policy blocking Active Content from CDs, I think 2

I have a CD that I need to be able to access but the active content is being blocked. I think our group policy is blocking it because I removed the test computer from our domain and added it to a work group and it works fine. As soon as I add the computer back to our domain it stops working.

I've gone into the GP editor, User Configuration (and Computer Configuration) -> Admin Templates -> Windows Components -> IE -> Internet Control Panel -> Advanced and located Allow active content from CDs to run on user machines. It is set to Not configured. I have even tried setting it to enabled, rebooted and still the same thing.

I installed Mozilla and it will run the active content but it causes other problems so using Mozilla isn't a solution but it does prove that and IE setting is the problem.

I feel certain I am missing something but I'm running out of time and I need a solution.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

To check if this policy is being applied from the domain policy settings, you can always run "Resultant Set of Policy" (Start >Run >type rsop.msc) to see what policies are being applied to your machine. If you are allowed to change Internet Options in IE, go to Tools> Internet Options> click the Advanced tab> scroll down to the 'Security' section and check the 'Allow active content from CDs to run on My Computer' option.

Joey, Thanks for the reply.

I checked the RSOP and there is nothing refering to active content. There was very little there so I looked through the whole thing.

I am allowed to change the Internet options in IE and Allow Active content form CDs is checked.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

I believe this is one of the fantastic new security features of SP2.

Off memory the issue is a ie policy but its security thats set for each zone. You can verify this by copying the cd contents to the local disk and then seeing if it works.

theravager,

Thanks for the suggestion, that works.
