Hi!

Have an Exchange 2003 server/Domain controller that part of a default Domain Group Policy. If I make any changes locally from the server (by running gpedit.msc) will these changed settings remain or will they get over-written by the default domain policy.

Many thanks in advanced!

Paul

That depends on whether the setting is configured on Group Policy or not. The policy processing order is:
Local Policy
GPO's linked to site
Default Domain Policy
Policies linked to OU('s) starting at the one nearest the "root" of the domain

If there are conflicts, then the policy that's processed last will overwrite the previous one.

Hi thanks for that info. Just to recap if I run gpedit from the server it opens the Local Computer policy. If I make changes from here then they will remain local unless effected by the policy order?

Cheers

OK many thanks for all your help!
