We have implemented a group policy setting in our Domain, and I am wanting to modify it slightly. However I am not sure if this is do-able. Right now, all our users domain accounts have "power user" rights on their local machines. They do not have the rights to install new hardware or software etc. This is where I would like to customize that option. Is there a way to grant the users the ability to install "certain" hardware? Such as printers, and mem keys for example. I've set the group policy to allow all users to load and unload device drivers but it doesn't seem to work. And even if it did, I don't want them brining in external hard drives full of viruses or whatever. Can this be customized for certain hardware types?

That is a tough one, even if you could define settings to this level,Flash Drives and USB Had Drives, would be connected as External Storage Device on the USB Bus. I don't think there would be anyway to distinguish at all on this one.

Someone will probably figure a way around this, but I can't see one. Wait for Mark

Your exactly right, however I am mostly worried about printers. Is there even a way to define ANY hardware install settings in the group policy?
