I am installing group paging in a Partner with a 4.1 Processor, with three twelve button phones (extensions 10, 11 and 12) and eight 6220 Lucent/Avaya single line telephones (extensions 13 through 20) with speakerphone capibility.

I created a group (#1) in procedure Calling Group Extensions (#502). I assigned all of the extensions (13 through 20) of the single line sets. Should I not have put the three twelve button phones (Extensions 10, 11 and 12) in the Calling group #1. If I do I get a busy signal when I push the group paging button on the twelve buttton sets.

I assigned a Group Paging Button on the three twelve button phones(Extensions 10, 11 and 12). When I push the button on each of the twelve button phones it does not voice signal through the speaker of the 6220's. If I use ringing instead of voice it does ring the single line sets. Though it appears that when using group paging-ring, the first single line set that picks up the receiver, it stops the ringing cycle.

Can this problem be overcome? I would like to be able to voice signal all eight of the single line sets from the receptionist twelve button telephone. It is a school and they want to be able to have the receptionist group signal the eight classrooms, a poor mans paging system.

Thank you,

Leonard

Only multiline key sets can receive voice announce group pages. Replace the 6620's with Partner-6 telephones.

TouchToneTommy is correct - Analog phones CANNOT receive system page announcements. Even though they are speakerphones, the partner system requires the use of a proprietary keyset (6, 18 or 34 button) in order to hear group or system-wide paging. That's how it works... Probably the least costly fix is to replace the speakerphones with 6-button keysets.

If I decide to use Group Calling Ring, (Left Intercom 71) which extensions should I put in the Group Calling Extensions (#502)? If I want to signal from extensions 10, 11 and 12 (group calling button) to extensions 13 through 20, which extensions should go into the group? I have created a group (#1) in which I have extensions 13 through 20 in the group, but not extensions 10, 11 and 12. When I signal from the Group Calling button at extensions 10, 11 and 12 they ring the 6220's. Though the first phone that picks up stops the ringing cycle. Is this normal?

Grab a manual at
You can put multiline and single line phones in a calling group. When you RING the group, ALL the extensions will ring, both single line AND multiline. When you VOICE ANNOUNCE the group, ONLY the multiline phones will receive the page. If there are NO multiline phones in the group, or ALL the multiline phones are engaged on another call, you will get a busy signal when trying to VOICE ANNOUNCE the group.

Yes, the 1st extension that goes off hook will cancel the page or ringing, and connect to the person making the call. It is called a "meet-me" page.

If this project is worth doing, maybe it is worth doing right. Consider reworking and using a small Valcom talkback page control w/talkback speakers. It will be less of a 'rig' and provide considerably better audio quality. Every time they use it, they'll think about how well it works, rather than thinking that they have to put up with a "poor man's" solution. Just a thought...

The Valcom talkback page control with talkback speakers. Will it interface with the Partner 4.1 processor? Does it interface into the page jack on the processor?

It sounds as if it has two way voice communication.

Any information would be helpful.

Talkback would require a trunk/CO position on Partner for talkback (partner does not support talkback on page interface). Yes, it would provide two-way communication, zoned paging and all call. Go to and look around... it's good stuff.
