What do I need to do in software to dial one access code for a zone overhead paging and at the same time will come out of the 6408 sets in "group paging" list?
I have two seperate loudspeaker paging zones and two seperate "group Paging "list. I want to dial one of the over head zones and have it come out of the sets as well. Does that help explain what I'm looking for?
Looks like the masters are stumped with this question,
this can't be happening!!!!
You mean no one has ever run in to this, or had a customer request it?
AUX PACK== Assign TAC code for each loudspeaker paging group you have and assign PAGE ALL TAC as # you want to dial...
ANALOG PACK== xwire each aux port to a real station port. Translate set as 2500, with Hotline access to a Abb Dial System DIAL CODE which has the Page Group Acess Number. Do this for each Page Group.
Assign Paging Groups with no more than '64 members'- dial Page All TAC to activate all speakers and Group Page members.
I see what you are trying to do, and know that it can be done even on a Partner System wherein you can incorporate the Loudspeaker Paging and Some tel sets in a "Group Page"
I am thinking that you are on the right track with the Paging Group scenario. If you were to create a Paging Group, could you not include the TAC for the ALL call or zone right on that form??? I don't think the abbreviated hotline idea that you were going for is going to work since the hotline is only for outbound calls from that analog port. Where in when you pick up that station, it would ring to that extension/tac/or page code...so, I think you be off track a little there. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to just lump the Loudspeaker paging TAC right into the group page list....but, I'm still thinking.
Just re-read and made of drawing of what you were going to do, this might work, but I can't even begin to tell you what is going to happen if someone calls one of the extensions that you have strapped to that analog card. It can't be pretty, I would strongly advise against it, plus, I can't predict what the aux port is going to do when it sees 48V of DC sitting on it either, again, not recommended.
Surplus,
Do you get the impression from my discription above that this solution uses the closure contacts of the AUX port to trigger the HOTLINE feature of the analog stations?
Good idea, but how are you going to pass the audio through? If you are just using the contacts to bring up the hotline destination, then the audio path would be shorted via contact closure and not pass through. You follow what I am saying? I saw in the older documentation that you were not able to include a trunk in this Group Page. Have you checked to see if that has changed? I would have had to swim through about 27 Change revision documents to find a reference to it. It would be easier if you were to try and put that TAC in the field and see what happens.
If you were to use a Bogen TAM-Telephone Access Module, and use the contact closure of the aux pack to activate the TAM, then that would give you the closure that you are looking for as well as the isolation between the Aux Trunk Card and the Station...possibly.
I see your point about the AUX port contacts, a loop on the analog port would not help at all(DUH!). At the end of this month I will try the original solution on a new Prologic I have going in, I'll keep you posted on this thread.
