I have recently upgraded to Access 2010. Previously when using 2003 and I wanted to SUM items in a list on a report I created a Group Footer and applied a formula in a text box like this:

=sum([Price]*[Quantity])

Try as I might I cannot find a way of inserting a Group Footer in Access 2010. Maybe this is not the way it is done now in 2010 so any help or advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Down at the bottom of the report in design view you should see a section "Group, Sort and Total"

In that section, if you have not yet set anything up, it will show "Add a group" "Add a sort"

Choose add a group

Select the field, then you will see Group on [field name] and some other choices. Towards the right on that same line, you should see an item that says "More". Click on that and then you will see an option for "without a footer section", click on that and choose "with a footer section", then you will have the footer available to use as was done in 2003.

Alternatively, if you have any old reports from 2003, you could import a report that already had footers and then modify that report to use the data source, etc for you current report as it will bring over the headers and footers you already set up. That was how I did it until I could figure out how 2010 creates footers.
