Avaya Partner R7. Auto Attendant selector code rings group of extension with a calling group, is there a way to make one of those extensions voicemails answer rather than it ringing to the reception?

Which type of voicemail, and which release of voicemail?

The only one that has a reasonable way of handling it is Partner Messaging R7.

You intentionally mis-program the "Transfer Return Extension" #306 for each of the voicemail ports. Set each on to themselves (which is default and may already be set that way, as 99% of installers did not read that section of the messaging installation manual which says set them to 10 for transfers to extensions that don't have voicemail coverage)

Next, you create a mailbox for the calling group. If you transferred to Calling Group 2, which is Ext. 72, you create mailbox 72. Set its status as "with a phone"

Set mailbox 72's Phantom Destination to the guy in the calling group that will be taking the messages.

Log into mailbox 72 and record and activate a greeting

The call comes into the automated attendant, caller presses a selector code, the call transfers to Ext. 72, the phones rings.

The call doesn't get answered, and the call transfers back to the extension number that transferred it, in this case one of the voicemail ports. The call is answered by mailbox 72. The caller hears the greeting and leaves a message, which goes into someone's mailbox and lights their light.

IF you want a separate mailbox for the group, make the phantom destination of 72 one of the unused General Mailboxes, such as 9992, 9993, or 9994. Make a member of the group the General Mailbox Owner of Automated Attendant 2, 3, or 4. Now the call is answered by mailbox 72's greeting, but the incoming message is deposited in 9992's mailbox, and an extension lights up that a message has been received. The users sees the light, checks their own mailbox and doesn't have any new messages, but the light is still on, so he checks 9992 and there's the group's incoming message. Keeps his personal mailbox separate from the group's mailbox
