I have two reports.

One shows paid Dist and one shows unpaid dist.

I'm grouping by a group code which is a number assigned to each group. On the unpaid report every thing works fine on the paid however the grouping does not work.

Just some back ground on what I've check. In the query I have the set to group and in the report I have them selected in grouping and sorting. They are both the same.

The only thing I can see that is different is in the query on the paid I have the item numbers (they are set to group by I don't need these in the unpaid.

Can anyone help.

Yes,
I probably wouldn't set the grouping in the query, but instead set it up inside the report.

Here is how to do it:
To get the report to break every time the group code changes, you can set the "Sorting and Grouping" options (found under the "View" menu item). With this, you can create a header for the group that will include any other info you desire from the query. You can also make the report writer create a footer for the group as well.

The actual data will appear in the "Detail" section.

Thanks I found the problem, Groups have to be set in this query as well as in the report. It was pulling the groups in the wrong order from the query. once I correct the order problem solve. Just had to beat my head to wall for a while

PJShows,

Just so you know, if you're using a query in a report you should not do any sorting in the query, as the sorting will be redone in the report, and it will just take longer.

In the type of reports I'm doing and with the power of the servers I have backing it up the sorts I have in the query are correctly placed. They are required to be able to get the results I'm looking for. But I do thank you for your responce
