Im currently grouping a report by month with a formula :-
month({master.FINDATE})

However, this groups the months by numerical value i.e. 1 for January.

Is there an easy way to translate the numberical values into actual months so it displays 'January', 'February' etc.

Any help would be great.

Try MonthName(Month({master.FINDATE}))

All the best,

Naith

Ok that works for putting the month names in, but now it has ordered the report alphabetically i.e. April is now the first group heading not January.

Is there any way to restore the previous layout - Jan, Feb, Mar etc but still keep the month names.

Sorry, I didn't give you enough information, I guess.

You still group on your original formula. But, instead of displaying the {Group Name} field, you delete that from the report, and display the formula I gave you in my initial post.

The idea is that the report groups on the numbers, but actually displays the MonthName alternative to the numbers.

Hope that puts you in the picture better,

Naith

You can still make this work by displaying the group name, and using Naith's formula to customize the group name field. Software Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

Thats all working well now, except when i go to produce a chart, is still displays the months like 1, 2,3 and not by names.

Is there an wasy way to change this?
