Hi All,

I am displaying a field as a group in my report.

The groups are getting repeated on row wise, it is possible to display them horizontally ?

Example

Existing display

Group A

Name 1
Name 2

Group B

Name 3
Name 4

To be changed to

Group A Group B
Name 1 Name 3
Name 2 Name 4

Please help me out.

Thanks

Format the detail section to "format with multiple columns"->layout tab->set the width and gap->down then across->check "format groups with multiple columns".

Then in the section expert, highlight the group footer and check "Print on bottom of page".

Hi LB,

It is arranging the detail section in two different columns, but not the group, Did I do any thing wrong?

Result after the above change

Group A
Name 1 Name 2

Group B

Name 3 Name 4

But i want to rearrange the group also in the horizontal format

Group A Group B Group C etc,

is it possible m Please let me know.

Thanks

Saran

Please go through the steps again. Looks like you missed the last two steps.

Hi LB,

I did those steps, still the groups are displayed are like this only.

Group A

Group B,

There is one more thing, there are many names per group does it change any thing ?
Please help me out

Thanks

Please recheck everything. It looks to me like you have not formatted the group for multiple columns (at the bottom of the layout tab), and that you have not formatted the group footer to print at the bottom of the page. If you had formatted the group footer to print at the bottom of the page, you would never see a group header in the same column as another group header.

Thanks LB , I will try again

In the layout , i am confused about those values

Length and width of the detail section

and then the gal between the details..

What will be default values there ?

any suggessted values for the above scnerios, i have a doubt about the value sthat i enter there.

Thanks

You have to take into account the width of the paper excluding margins. If you have 8 1/2" paper width, with 1/2" margins, and you wanted three columns, you woud have 7 1/2" to work with, so you might choose a width of 2" and a gap of 3/4". You have to play with these dimensions and your margins to force the columns.

Thanks LB, it worked.

I have another issue now, the detail section is not aligned with the Group info.

The first column of the detail is with the first group now, how to move the detail section so that it is in align with the group info.

I used 3" and 0.5" as the data

Thanks again.

In design move, just move the detail fields as necessary. Or am I missing something? Why don't you show a sample of what you are seeing.

-LB

Hi LB,

In the design field both fields are left aligned..

Here is the sample

Name1 Name2 Name 3 Name 4 Name 5 Name 6

Group 1 Group 2 Group 3

actually name1 and name 2 are part of the group 1, my format is landscape so the details for group 3 are displayed in the next page.

Thanks again.

you are really awesome and helpful.

You cannot have implemented this correctly. The print at bottom of page should be on the group footer, not the group header.

Also, please identify the field you are grouping on.

LB,

Sorry for wasting your time, that was it.

It is working fine now.

Thank you very much.
