Hi all,

is it possible to define a group backup time interval greater then 24 hours? For example if I would like to run a group once a week (every 168th hour) without having it running skip's every day in between. Any other possible
solution to this scenario also appreciated.

Regards,
StefanS

The only way I know of is to create a schedule for daily, weekly, monthly, etc. I don't know of any other way unless you write a custom script that kicks off the savegroup at a specified interval from a command line.

Thanks for your quick response.
I guess I need to figure out another way to do it.
Anyway, I found the issue adressed in Legato knowledgebase (see below).

Title: Interval attribute set to greater than 24 hours is not valid

Description:

Setting the Groups resource attribute, 'Interval' to anything greater than 24
hours causes backups to run once per day instead of the time specified for the
'Interval'.

ANALYSIS:

NetWorker 5.5, 5.5.1
UNIX, NT

Interval specifies how frequently a group runs, using a 24 hour clock. The
default value is 24:00. NetWorker runs a scheduled backups at least once every
24 hours regardless of how high the interval attribute is set.

SOLUTION:

The purpose of the Interval attribute is to run groups multiple times within one
day. For example, an interval of 6 hours means that the group will run 4 times
during the day. (24/6=4).

You want a backup once a week? Just create a schedule set levels on all days except one to skip. Set the last day to full. The group runs everyday but does nothing on days that the schedule tells it to skip. I was really hoping that Legato would have inceased the scheduler options in there product with version 6. But I guess that would reduce sales of there full blown scheduler package.
