I have a wireless radio installed on a roof for wireless back-haul back to my central building. The radio is on the roof, and is driven by a cat 5 cable that gives it power from an indoor poe injector.
This particular radio has a grounding post/terminal sticking out of it. Now this might be a stupid question, it may be a big NO-NO, or it might be done all the time:

There is a lightning rod on this roof and a grounding cable is just going down to earth from this rod. Is it a good idea to connect the grounding terminal on the radio to this grounding cable going from the lightning rod to the ground?

As a note, indoors, between the poe injector and the outdoor radio, there is an ethernet surge protector, which (will be) grounded inside.

Never attach anything to lightning protection systems. All outdoor antennas should be grounded per NEC.

The radio chassis should be bonded to the building ground system. The incoming Ethernet cable from the radio should pass through a surge protector that should also be bonded tot eh building's ground system.
