I have found a 1A key system with ground start line running to it. It needs to be ground start as it's part of the power loss fail over system.
I can't get it to work and I suspect it has never worked. AND I suspect it can't work on a key set.
What do you guys think? I'm interested in your thoughts,
Thanks

You can take a ground start button and mount it on the phone, one side goes to a ground and the other side goes to the ring side of the line. When you push the button it will pull dialtone and then you can release it.

If memory serves me right the line card usually provides ground. There is a jumper on the card to and from Ground start or loop start. Me thinks the line card went bad. PERRYPJ's button will confirm the line is a working ground start line.

1a2 to ip I seen it all

1A22IP is correct if the 1A2 is behind a PABX there should be a Gordens Kape or some other kind of BYPASS Unit to convert the Ground Start to Loop Start or it is also possible they just wanted to answer the lines.

In your original post you mention a "1A" KTS, so is it a 1A or a 1A2 KTS? They are different, although they use the same sets.

**To be clear "1A" is not a short version of a "1A1" or a "1A2" KTS!**

As far as ground start is concerned, you only need the ground start button for outgoing calls, incoming works just like loop start lines. The ground you are referring is designated A1 and appears in all sets connected to the KSU. So you could wire the button using the A1 terminal and the Tip side of the keystrip common bus.
