Grid increment in form design

I apologise if I have been told this before . . .

On an existing form, the controls change size in increments of 12 pixels. I would like to make that smaller, so that I can position a control (and its width) to a 3-pixel increment.

I believe that Tools | Options | <Form Tab> allows this to be set. It works for a new form but not for an existing form. Is this do do with a resource file? If so, how can I locate that file and modify the setting.

Yes, the option is only affecting new forms.

While in form editor, pick "Set Grid Scale" from the Format menu. It's persisted in each form, not in the resource file.

But being a kleyboarder: While having selected a control, press SHIFT+CTRL and arrow keys to resize with snap to grid, press SHIFT only and arrow keys and resize pixel by pixel. Also use arrow keys alone to shift a control and use CTRL plus arrow keys to shift with snap to grid.

Besides, you can turn off snap to grid in the format menu, while designing a form (or other container).

I found it ideal to orientate myself at the fixed width of the record mark of a grid control. Having turned off the Deletemark, this is what I like to remain for display of the active row besides highlighting. The record mark is 11px including both left and right border line pixel, which makes 10px a perfect layout grid size to easily align with that.

It's one of the sizes you can't control and therefore making that the minimum measure is a making it easy to align eg additional headers outside the grid with it, easily.

Maybe make it 5px, but not 3px. With such a fine grid you can also turn off the grid alignment overall. Such a fine scaling then also isn't noticed as a well aligned straight look to a user.
