Not really current on Unix scripting so pardon my 'ignorance' here ...

I seem to recall that grep doesn't work with a .z (compressed) file - which makes sense. My problem is that I'm dealing with huge .z files and I need a quick and easy way to search for a pattern in these files - emphasis on quick and easy.

System is an IBM running ksh.

Ideas and suggestions appreciated.

Tnx.

Thank you - at my age it's always nice to have what's left of my memory jogged ... :)
