Great reports Elements

I am not extremely good designing reports. What are the standard qualities of a good report according to your knowlege? What elements a good report should contain?

It depends on what you are trying to get out of it really. If your using sub report, grouping, charts, the list goes on.

The report should contain what you end user requires and not what the designer feels will look nice, or they feel should be in there.

I you give to the user what they want, then they can not complain, but its always nice to give them that little bit extra...

so if you a grouping then each group as you go
ie
building
floor
room

each word sould decreace in size and intent.

also if the report contiues on to the next page have the field name repeat onto the next page by putting the field ames in the page header section.

also do the size sizing and indenting on the footers.

avoid lines as to many tend to distract the eye and make the reort hard to read.
