Great plains 9.0, using VMware to run dual OS. WinXP host and win98 guest. Can print from xp and win98, but when we try to print from great plains nothing is sent to the printer. Can also send a print command from the dos command line to the lpt port ok.

Need need help i'm in the chicago land area.

For what it's worth, GP is not supported on VMWare or any other virtual platform. Just because it installs and seems to work, doesn't mean all the functionality will be there.

That said, I know we've printed from GP 9.0 installed on MS Virtual Server and Virtual PC, but have not used VMWare.

GP can also be very picky about printers and drivers. Can you print to the same printer (using the same driver) from GP in a non-virtual environment? Can you print to something on the virtual machine, like Office Image Writer if you have it, instead of a physical printer?

And you're trying to print from WinXP right? Not Win98?

GP changed they way some things are printed (from 7.5 to 9.0 I don't know about 8.0 we skipped that). We use to be able to print an order just fine (from the SOP_Entry window), but once we upgraded to GP9 - that changed. Most still printed fine, but orders that were completely drop-shipped wouldn't print at all, until I noticed another checkmark to "Include drop-ship items."

Check for anything on the print prompts that would be causing no data for a report. Reports with no data don't print.

Also take into mind what Victoria said, as the printer situation in GP can be very finiky in a normal envirnment, let alone a virtual one (haven't used VMWare - so I'll defer questions on that).
