gre read from pty failed

Hi all,

ok i've a Netgear DG814 with v4.8 firmware, behind which i have a snapgear lite 2 VPN server.

When trying to VPN from the internet using XP VPN client i get ther error gre read from pty failed on the snapgear
logs. stating pap and chap failed

any ideas,

Describe the connection (type of internet access, router/firewall, etc.) on the client side. Also, are you doing NAT on either side?

Could you cut and paste a few lines of the log?

Without further information, my guess would be that GRE is not getting through on one side or the other, but not sure which end. Check firewalls/routers to make sure that pptp passthrough is enabled. Might be labled a little different, could be GRE protocol or protocol (not port) 47.
