with a transparent background, no matte color around the edges, and have it come out smooth and not jagged???- Thread starter

Sure, your text is on its own layer so , with that layer active just select(from the top)Layer and then from the dropdown menu select Ratserize and then from that dropdown menu select Text. That will turn your text into a graphic that then can then be saved as a transparent gif or png.
