I am trying to test the site I built. I installed the .NET frameworks on the server I want to host the site, created the site and copyed all the files to the sites folder. when accessing the site from another work station the graphics or background will not display.. I have a folder called Images thats in the same folder as the web app. why wont the graphics show??

also, can someone explain to me about the virtual directory? how and why to use it etc..

Thanks

dvannoy,

There could be many reasons why this could be happening, but unfortunately there's no way to tell without a sample of your code.

DoubleCheck to make sure that you copied the images folder to the same location that you have it on your development machine.

Check to see the source of one of your pages that isn't working. Find out where the missing picture is pointing to then see if your images folder is actually there.

As for Virtual Directories they work so that you can put your web pages in any directory you want to on the machine. The [root]:\Inetpub\ folder is the root virtual directory. Any folders under that one will have a URL as so
You need to make web applications under a virtual folder because IIS uses some special properties in a virtual directory for a web application. That'l do donkey, that'l do
