The version of CRthat im using is Crystal Reports 9.0. My question is, how can i place lines (graphic boxes) around the components that would be in the same level as other components.

Each level would have a graphic box around the level to clearly define the level. If multiple component are in that level the box would extended to cover those components in that level.

If i try and right click the format borders it will put a line around each individual component however i would like the box around all relating components in the level.

You could place blank text boxes over the other fields. Give it a border. Use conditional suppression
