I hope I can ask this clearly. I'm using InDesign CS2 to create a document that is 20 plus pages. I have placed all the text and am now inserting images. At first I just drag & dropped.

I was randomly adding the images into the locations I wanted them. Otherwise not in any particular order as my client sends me the images when she had them ready and some went into the end of the document while others into the middle.

But the images were to be placed with certain text. Here is where I'm having a problem. If I placed an image on, let's say page 5, the text would shift to make room for it but the text would continue to more around the image I had placed on page 7. When the text would shift down the document it would not take the image I had previously placed within that text on page 7.

My question is.....
How do I lock the image within the text that goes with it????
Seems that I use to be able to do this but with my new version I'm lost.
I've read everything I could think of and tried different methods of Placing the image.

HELP please.

Hey

What you need to do is cut the image out, using Ctrl (Cmd) X

Then with your text selection tool, select where the image is to go within the text.

Then paste the image in.

This produces an "inline graphic"

When you put this graphic in this way, you need to right click on it (or ctrl click on the mac).

There is an option of Anchored Object.

Go into these options to help you place the image. It's a little bit testy the way it works, but once you get something that you like working then save your options in the object styles.

Go to Adobe Live Docs and look up

Inline Objects
Anchored Objects
Text Wrap

Good luck with it, once you get the hang of the Anchored Objects options the job will be a cinch.
