Hi,

I have to upgrade the VGA fans in a number of systems. Does anyone know when the current standard VGA fan fittings became standard?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

I am not aware of anything standard with VGA chip fans. In the higher-end cards the fans are even custom-made. Why do you ask?

If these graphics cards are a popular model ie:
Radeon 9600Pro FX5700 etc the card manufactures tend to follow reference design and so aftermarket coolers can usually be sourced fairly easily to replace the generic fans (Thermaltake, Vantec, Zalman) to name but a few manufactures of these aftermarket products.
It is likely that you will have to replace the whole cooler as the actual fan is rarely standard fitment (they are usually recessed into the heatsink to keep them slimline so the card only ocupies one slot.
If you give us more detail we can point you in the right direction.
