I have used AOL since AOL started and have had no problems. Installing the latest version (9.0) went ok. However, I could not access AOL as a message saying there was a problem would not let the program. After several talks w/AOL techs, one had me change the setting on my graphic accelator, which I did and now I can access AOL. However, my graphics have slowed down and I have no idea what program I have that is causing the problem. Any ideas on how to track down the culprit? I am running a 1.3ghz w/256mb ram. 56k,30 gb hdd, etc.

If you know someone with an earlier AOL version on a CD, then consider reverting back to it.

Try restoring the setting AOL had you change, and as ski said look for an older version of AOL.

Thanks guys for the input. Changing the graphic accellerator back to normal did not work on reboot so I reinstalled ver. 8.0 and reset the graphics accelerator. Still would like to have the 9.0 working as it is much better that 8.0 plus.

You are running into a hardware conflict, upgrading your video card to a Matrox or ATI Radeon with 128M RAM would probably help matters.

My girlfriend has AOL 9.0 and it is as flaky as they come, worse than AOL 4 ever was.

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Thanks guys for all the input and the problem is now solved. I recently had installed a LCD 17" monitor and I had the resolution set wrong. Changing it allowed me to run the Graphic's Accelerator back to it's normal position and now AOL 9.0 works perfect. BTY, don't know what the girlfriend is having trouble with the AOL 9.0 but I have used every version since AOL started and this one is great, no problems now for me.

My g/f's AOL9.0 crashes unexpectedly. Brand new install from the disk, not an upgrade. Clean install of her OS (windows ME, which could be half the problem). Install of the broadband version (running on a cable modem).

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

Prior to Clean installation always upgrade BIOS first if needed/available !!!
Upon end of clean installation always Update Windows , plus get latest drivers for M.B. and everything else....
(Driver updates can in the odd case create problems but as a rule newest drivers works best always)
Regards...
