A friend of mine runs a business in which the IT/programmer does not really get the vision that management has for the company and information accessibility. In talking with the owner, I believe he is looking for something very graphical and easy to understand when it come to report output. He is a Mac guy and really likes the simple to understand visual style that that industry tends to portray. So... does SSRS give that kind of ability or is there some other reporting package out there that you can use to build nice easy to understand graphical reports?

Thanks,
wb

The charting in SSRS 2005 is fairly crude looking, similar to Excel 2000.

The charting/gauges in SSRS 2008 are a lot fancier looking, similar to Excel 2007.

SSRS 2008 R2 adds mapping capabilities built in, as well as "sparklines."

Effectively, SSRS2008 incorporates "Dundas" charting which was a seperate add-in you could purchase to use with SSRS2005. It's pretty good but some of the guages / charts have a LOT of properties so can be complicated to get the best out of them

Rgds, Geoff

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Please read FAQ222-2244 before you ask a question

Hmm... Thanks for the info. I will take a peak at SSRS in 2008.
