Ahhhh. This woman is driving me crazy!!! She works in a small office that has two computers, each with WordPerfect 9. They only use the word processing feature.
Her computer suddenly began displaying errors when she opened WP. Based on the error (can not recall exactly what it was at the moment), the recommendation was to reinstall WP since her boss refuses to pay for an upgrade.
After I reinstall WP 9, she noticed that the graphical envelope display no longer appeared. Her coworker has the graphical display, so now she keeps complaining how i "broke" her computer and she can't do her work anymore. Never mentioned how I got WP working again. She is now obsessed with getting the graphical display back. She calls me almost daily for an update.
I installed WP 9 on a clean computer and noticed that the graphical display is not there either. Therefore, I figure this is either a setup or an add-on. The coworker is more interested in messengers and music and is not the type to tweak an application. Searches on Google seem to reference the envelope addressing as though the graphical is the default. I must be missing something here if I got the same results on two computers.
So, what am I missing?

??? What I mean is this. If you go into MS Word and create an envelope, you get a graphical box, a form in which you can fill out the Address and the Return Address. The same type of box can be used in WordPerfect. However, by default, there is simply a short document page with dotted lines, with the Return address showing in the top corner and the mailing address cursor in the middle. I don't how else to explain other than to tell you to compare the envelope creation in both programs and that this woman wants WordPerfect to appear the same as it does in Word.
As for backups, WordPerfect Support advised me that the custom settings may be corrupted and advised that I uninstall and reinstall.
What I will do is copy the settings from the other computer and see what happens.

Are you talking about the dialog from Format | Envelope? If so, you can play a macro with EnvelopeDlg() command to get the same thing.

This may be a Windows setting issue. I've never seen that type of problem with a wp dialog.

Are other dialogs like the File | Open dialog, and Format | Labels dialogs doing this too?

Now we are getting somewhere. Call it dialog, form, template, whatever you like. There seems to be a fair amount of clemency here. Hey, a rose is a rose.
Format Labels dialog works fine. File Open dialog works fine. It may be a Windows setting, particularly since WP9 is no longer supported, although I cannot imagine which setting would cause a problem with the Envelope dialog but not the other dialogs.

IF the operating system is xp then wp9 really needs to be fully patched.

Try some startup switches. Right click the WP icon on the desktop and edit the Target Path. At the end of the EXE add a space and then /FL. Another switch you can try is /dm=90.

Other things to try: change the View percent. Change the View mode. Edit the Windows settings to use Small Fonts, not Large Fonts.
