I've created a menu using pictures rather than command buttons - are there any drawbacks from doing this?

Also, I'd like to create mousedown images to simulate the press of a button: what's the correct syntax for doing this?

No drawbacks as long as the users know what the menu items are for. May be prudent to add good tool tips or messages in a status bar on mouseover. That's up to you.

To change the image on the menu item just assign the 'clicked' image in the mousedown event and assign the original image an the mouseup or what ever event you want to use. The syntax will depend the type of control that you used. Thanks and Good Luck!
