I have 2 small gif files that i use to mark freeware and shareware links on my site. They are about 1 to 2kb eack. 20x20 pixels. Half the time they do not show up, i have to right click and hit show picture.
Any way to cure this problem? a java script that refreshed onlt the pics and not the page maybe?
Thanks

Initial impressions are that this sounds like a browser issue. Try another browser or another computer and see if they show up. Check your browser settings and make sure that it is set to show images. You should also clear your cache. I've seen bad cache files do really weird things to a browser.

Hope this helps,
-Ron

-We all play from the same deck of cards, it's how we play the hand we are dealt which makes us who we are.

It happens on any computer i try it on, and i've had others try it too.
try this page, and this page refresh a bunch of times and then right click the missing pictures and click show picture.
It happens on every pc.
The pics are only 1kb or less, i wonder if they are being skipped because they are so small?

Tried the audio page, got a 404. Tried the test page, all the images were broken - the files didn't exist with the names you'd given them. Are you sure you're using the right URL?

Here's a tip: put all images in a directory called "images" directly under the root. In your image tags, use the form [tt]src="/images/picture.gif"[/tt] . That leading slash will ensure that the file is looked for relative to the root, rather than the current file.

yes, i am aware of how to link the pictures. The pictures on the test page DO exist, if you right click them and "show picture" they come up.
Don't know why you get a 404 error for the udio page, maybe i gave the wrong url
it's anyway, it's fixed now thanks to a javascript that someone gave me in another forum.

Went to test page:
All images are broken. Tried right-click, then properties. URL is (for example) - which doesn't exist.

On your audio page, the corresponding file is called fw.bmp . BMP files are Windoze image files, with bloated file sizes and unreliable on other platforms. Using a GIF instead will save you bandwidth and probably fix your problems.

yes, i know all about bmp, gif, jpg tiff, etc...
I used bmp on purpose. the image size is about 1kb, the same as a gif or jpg for a pic that small.
The test page has broken links because i removed the gif and jpg files from the server. The test page will no longer display the pics. But the rest of the site does thanks to some preload image java code.
