hello

In CR10.0 i need to make a simple chart , but combining two types of graphics: i have to put one value into a bar , and the other value in a line type.
But i don't see (after two hours searching) a way to do this...

Dear Paverley,

Design your chart starting as a Type Barchart, select your on Change of field and the values to show.

(Tip: In the Chart Expert, deselect Automatically set chart options ... it will mess your chart up if you enter it again after doing the next step).

Click OK, when done and now chart is on report.

Now,right click on the chart (in design or preview mode - however preview mode is better for this) and select Chart Options/General/Layout

Click Dual Axes.

Once you click that you will see that the Dual Y options tab becomes available. Click there. If you only have two values they will be in the Primary and Secondary Axes in the order you added them to the Show Values pane in the Chart Expert. If you have more then two values, place the value you want as a line in the Secondary Axes.

Click OK.

Now, while viewing the chart (here is why preview mode is better), Right Click the bar that you want to be a line and from the flyout menu choose Chart Options/Series.

The dialog box that appears will display Show Selected Series as and in the selection box below that Default for Series.

Click the drop down and choose LINE.

Click OK.

You will now have both bars and a line for the value you wanted to show as a line. The axes on the right will be the axes for this value. For some unknown reason the color of the values in the axes defaults to purple! Just Right Click on the numbers and select Chart Options/Selected Item and set the color to what you want.

If the item you are charting is a percentage ... don't bother trying to get a Percent sign to display ... it won't.

Regards,

ro
