Hello Everyone.

We have been trying to use the granular restore feature to backup Exchange to the mailbox and email level but cannot get it to work. The account we are using does have full access on the Exchange server. The account also does have an active email account. When we look to do a restore we can only restore to the store level and that's it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

IS the service account name unique? OPen a outlook client and type the first five letters of the service account in the TO field and hit ctrl-k. If its not unique then it wont work.

I was just reading the documentation the other day and am by no means an expert on the subject, but I thought I read you need to be restoring from disk not tape for this to work with the Exchange agent. Or restore the store to a different location from tape to disk first.

Not sure if you are going from tape or not but thought it wa worth a mention.

Thanks for replying guys.

Steveot...yes the name is unique.

Ouzojd....I have read something similar to that but when speaking to Symantec, they did advise I should be able to run it from tape or in my case a VTL. As far as restoring to a different location first, we can't get to the mailbox level to restore anywhere.

What I read recently is that if the SMTP alias and the CN= value in the ADLegacyDN attribute do not match, it will not work. Unfortunately I do not know what effect changing the this will have or how to do it. The search continues.
