I used the Veritas "Media Rotation Wizard" to set up my new backup scheme. It set a run-once full backup to start the process, It made a differential job for Monday - Thursday, and it made a full backup job for each Friday. But, it made nothing for my monthly backups. Can I schedule a job for this somehow or is this something I need to do manually? Can I set a job to run on the last Day of the month? (as opposed to a specific day, since some months have 31 days, or 30, or 28...) Thanks,

I just did this exact same thing. Here's how I handled it.

I created the following tape set:

Mon, Tues, Weds, Thurs

Fri1, Fri2, Fri3

Jan, Feb, March, Apr, May, etc.

Takes 19 tapes to have a 1-year backup horizon

On the first friday you use Fri1.
On the second friday you use Fri2
On the third friday you use Fri3
On the fourth friday you use Jan
Each subsequent fourth friday, you use a monthly tape.

Take Fri tapes offsite, and Monthly tapes offsite as appropriate.

That is what I had planned on doing also, but with a Friday 4 tape, in case of those months when there are 5 Fridays. It is almost a waste of a tape, but what else would you do

Read your situation. With the differential, did you set your job to append, which will use the last tape in the previous differential job? That can cut down your tape usage. If you did, I can't think of anything else to add.
Best wishes 4 success!
