Hi

I developed a report with sub-totals and grand
totals. When I use record selection to set a
crietrion to filter out certain fields, the
sub-total automatically changed to the sub-total
of those fields that I filtered out.

However, the Grand Total remains the same as
the Grand Total for all. What is the problem
and is there a way to overcome it. I would like
to see the Grand Total of all the fields selected
under the criterion selection.

You are probably using a criteria based on a summary field. This is called 'group selection'. Grand totals will behave as you have seen. However, if you use running total fields for your grand totals, they will be accurate. Ken Hamady

I am on Version 6 and there is
no easier way to generate running
total fields.

Have you managed to find an easier
alternative.

If you have confirmed that you are using group selection (Select Expert, show formula, see if there is a formula under the "Group Selection" button). Then there is no alternative. You will have to use running totals, which are more work in V6.

See the FAQ on running totals and use the "3 formula" technique. Ken Hamady
