The report is grouped by [ActionByTech] and displays a count of actions taken by each technician daily. Here's my ActionByTech group footer:
="Total Actions for " & [ActionByTech] & ": " & Count([ActionDate])

The report footer displays one grand total for ALL technicians over the period. Here's my report footer:
="Total Actions This Report: " & Count([ActionDate])

In addition, I want the report footer to show a grand total for EACH technician over the period but cannot figure this out. Whatever I try, the grand total for all technicians keeps getting assigned to the first technician.

Hi Duane. Thanks for the idea but I can't get it to work for me. The underlying query for the main report prompts for a begin and end date. I created a subreport based on a totals query as you suggested but now, when I run the report, I get prompted for a begin and end date for each technician. Ideas? I was so sure there must be a way to calculate these totals using some function or expression in a text box. No?

Duane's idea is the best.

though you need to make sure

1. Your subreport is NOT linked to the main report because you just want the totals for each group to show in the report footer.

2. If you are using input parameters I would suggest using a FORM instead so you can select the values, the form can remain open and can provide the values to any object that needs them, including the criteria for the subreport.

Thank you both so much for your input. Of course, you're right. I guess I was being lazy (and now I'm embarassed). Duane, thanks for the FAQ. It's perfect and reinforces the point you both made.
