Graceful restart kills every httpd process

I am using IBM HTTP server 1.3.6.
The server can be started and stopped, and works normally.
But when I try to restart the server (gracefully or not), apachectl returns a zero RC, but all the httpd processes (father and sons) are killed.
Has anyone ever experienced it ?

I forgot to say that the server runs on Solaris 7.

Try &quot;kill -HUP <pid>&quot; where <pid> is the Process ID for the &quot;root&quot; process of Apache. It simply reloads Apache's config file, and does not &quot;per se&quot; kill any processes.

What specifically do you mean by &quot;gracefully&quot;? If you restart the platform, then of course the processes stop. I'm a little confused...

That's my question ! The SIGHUP kills the root process !
And what is called a &quot;gracefull&quot; restart is an option of the apachectl command. It sends a SIGUSR1 to the process.

Any Idea ?
