How do you move/rotate/manipulate the connector text on a UML diagram. I want to move/rotate the text that is associated with an Association Link on the UML diagram. If the line connecting the classes or interfaces is vertical, the Visio product places the connect text directly over the top of the connecting line. I want to move it off of the connecting line and possibly rotate the text to sit on the line. I have had no problems doing this on a database diagram. I am using the Visio for Enterprise Architects version. I have tried selecting both text buttons but nothing seems to work. I have even removed all of the protections from the text and I still cannot maneuver it. I have been successful at rotating the multiplicity text; although I have not figured out how to move it. I have even tried to play around with the Z-Order of the layers with no success.

1) Open Association Link as group: Edit>Open Group
2) Then select 1 of the ends and open ShapeSheet: Window>Show ShapeSheet
3) In Protect section, find LockTextEdit cell, change it to 0.
4) Select Text block Tool (Ctrl+Shift+4) and move/rotate/manipulate as you want.

I was able to access the shape sheet for the connector; however when I attempt to update the LockTextEdit field it doesn’t take my value for some reason. When I press enter after entering a =0 value, (I had to enter the equal sign), I get my 0 value followed immediately by another shape protection formula as in the following: =0LockVtxEdit. Each time I press enter or clear the field it just seems to keep appending these shape protection formulas in the LockTextEdit field as well as the in the data entry field at the top of the screen.

What is the ‘trick’ to entering data in this field? I assume this Shape Sheet interface is simply an Excel spreadsheet

I found a solution to my data entry issue. I simply cut and paste a zero value cell from another shape protection field into the LockTextEdit field and that works just fine. Thanks for the help.
