Is it possible to have an application that will search out a web page and bring in specific information from that into a report?

THE REAL QUESTION:
I have been asked to create an application for our sales/quoting dept. that will access specific vendor websites that update their pricing often. The goal is to provide sales with a "live" material cost report so that their quoting is more accurate and up to date. These sites have the part number, description, and current pricing on them....but I guess it's easier for them to have me spend hours creating this rather than surf these sites themselves !!!!

Please help...I am once again, in OVER my HEAD!!!!!!

What OS are you using? actually doesn't matter...just easier in *nix

Without getting into any messy XML/SOAP/etc... stuff
and
If your vendors' pricing is at a consistent location:

use wget to retrieve the data,
parse out the information you need ( in progress or at os level)
import data into your reports

I am using Windows OS.

i AM not familiar with the wget function?
Can you elaborate or send me to a site that would break it all down for me?
Thanks
