Hi,

I have a customer that claims that an application that is distributed via GPO uninstalls itself if it is forced to the PC twice?? Not sure how they force it to the PC twice??

Anybody ever heard of this???

I thought that it could only uninstall if there was a newer version; marked for removal; removed from Active Directory OU.

Cheers.

The only way it could be forced to the PC twice (that I can think of) would be if somebody went into the policy and said redeploy on that particular application. I guess it's possible (depending on the msi) that it would remove when run a second time. Generally with MSI's, if you run them when the app is already installed then you get the option to repair or remove. So maybe if you try running that msi on your PC (to install it) and then run it a second time and see what options you have, you'll find out. Bear in mind that when an msi is assigned to a computer, the installation is silent so escentially the msi will take the default values. The only other option I can think of would be to flat it as not removable - but then I'm not too sure how you'd go about removing it when you finally wanted to upgrade it !!
