GPO not accepted by new hardware

We recently introduced a new HP model into our environment. When Active Directory applies the GPO to our environment, our new HP models are NOT receiving it. We often get new desktop units (traditionaly IBMs) and have no problems applying these new machines to the domain,and receiving their group policy.

We have contacted HP, but they are scratching their heads. Has anyone experienced anything relating to what I described?

Update: We ran a raw install of the XP OS, instead of our standard image. The raw install DOES receive the GPO. Apparently, something between our standard image and the new hardware doesn't agree...yikes.
