We are finding we need to lock more and more people out of things like cards thru the pallets. However some of them may need one or two windows within let's say Inventory Cards. So on their shortcut I go to ADD then Other Window and select the window and that gives them access to it. But how do I deactivate or hide the ADD button so they are not adding the windows on their own. Seems stupid to have the ability to lock them out of pallets but they can still add the windows.

Thanks

Applying security using Palettes is NOT the recommended method. You really need to deny access to the individual windows which can be opened from the palette.

This is because windows can be opened using Shortcuts or can be drilled back to from other windows. There is no way that I know of to disable the shortcuts functionality.

Applying security directly to the actual windows cannot be bypassed. Applying security via the palettes can easily be bypassed.

Applying security using the menu structure is simple from Great Plains v7.0 onwards as you can use Advanced Security and its "By Toolbar" or "By Menu" view. This applies security to entire sections of the menu tree with a single click.

Maybe it is time to look at upgrading... especially as v6.0 is no longer supported.

Thanks for your advise David. Yes, we are planning to upgrade, well let me rephrase that, when they want to spend the money
