Hi
Looking for a simple wiring tester / connection verifier

We make PC based test equipment and cables to test customers' boxes (aerospace usually), we are UK based.

Currently we manually test point to point but the logistics are coming to the point of considering automating this.

A simple box to test 20 - 100 points at each end. I am sure the telecoms industry has done this for years but finding the right name to call it is a challenge in itself (everyone calls them a different name)

We don't at this stage need impedance measurement - or if we do it is more volt drops on power wires and not that many.

Any suggestions.

Don't know of anything that tests 20 to 100 wires that was not custom made. The cable manufacturers may have something but that would be industrial and expensive. If you plan to test cable assemblies and have both ends at the same location you could build something to automate the testing using a microcontroller.

The answer is "42"

thanx - we have found a PC based model - the idea is that the wiring list is held in a spreadsheet and the symbiosis is obvious.

We spend a lot of time chacking the wiring.
