So I've got this laserjet 1200. All of the sudden the right side of the sheet is printing out pretty badly. Just the far right one inch of the sheet. It's a little lighter and it seems to be smudged a little.

So I figure it's dirty. I get in there and clean everything. I towel it out like the instructions say. I then use rubbing alcohol on some paper towels. that doesn't work either. I'm in there with Q-tips. Then I'm dunking Q-tips in rubbing alcohol and cleaning everything. Nothing works. I change the toner cartridge. That doesn't work.

Then I notice that the ink (toner) on the far right side of the sheet can be easily smudged. Everything else on the page can't be smudged. As soon as it comes out of the printer the left 7.5 inches of the page can't be smudged, but the right 1 inch is lighter and the ink can be smudged. It doesn't make any sense. It's a laserjet. Why isn't the toner heating to the sheet of paper completely instead of being scattered over the right 1 inch and brushing off very easily?

You need to check the Corona wire for damage etc, you might need to get the printer serviced.

Sounds more like the lamp in the heat roll for the fuser, corona wires are used to transfer the toner in old laser printers, new ones use rollers. could also be a worn pressure roll, one side giving insufficient pressure on the fuser.
